Lee Ki-heung, who is seeking a third term in the 42nd election for the chairman of the Korea Sports Council, was not accepted by the high court in objection to the suspension of his duties by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

On the 10th, the Seoul High Court's Administrative Department 3 (Chief Judge Choi Soo-jin) decided to dismiss Lee Ki-heung's appeal against the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, just like the first trial.

Candidate Lee said, "The court seems to have reserved its judgment due to the consideration that it is not appropriate to side with either the government or the candidate ahead of the election for the chairman of the Korean Sports Council," adding, "We will thoroughly reveal the actual truth in the main lawsuit already filed with the administrative court after the election."

Candidate Lee added, "We will do our best in the 42nd election for the chairman of the Korea Sports Council, which will be held on the 14th, regardless of the rejection of the appeal by the Seoul High Court."

Earlier on November 11 last year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism notified candidate Lee of the suspension of his duties based on the results of an investigation by the government's joint public service inspection team in the Cabinet Office.

The inspection team has asked the police to investigate candidate Lee and others for reasons such as fraudulent hiring of employees, requesting sponsorship of goods, and private use of sponsored goods.

The next day, candidate Lee filed a lawsuit for the cancellation of his/her suspension of his/her duties with the Seoul Administrative Court.

Meanwhile, the next presidential election will be held on the 14th. Six candidates, including Lee Ki-heung, who is trying to win his third term, ran for office.

Criticism has been raised over candidate Lee's bid for the third term, which has led to various allegations of misconduct, but the Sports Council's Sports Fair Committee approved candidate Lee's candidacy for the next presidential election.
